THC design continues to break ground in the cannabis industry. This year, we launched a unique cannabis cultivation internship program devised for veterans. The program is one of many strides we are taking to remain a contributing voice in cannabis advocacy, legalization, and safe access for those who are in need of medicine.
There are over 20 million veterans living in our country; many suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, major depression, and chronic pain. Unfortunately, many veterans who struggle with these conditions subsequently face opioid addiction, and in some cases, premature death. Shifting attitudes have lead many veterans to begin using cannabis as a viable alternative to prescription drugs. We hope to aid with forming a positive and engaging relationship between our country’s service members and cannabis for therapeutic use.
Our Veterans Internship Program will allow service members to participate in the maturing
cannabis marketplace. The 12-week paid internship program offers not only a comprehensive course
on cannabis cultivation, but insight on our distinguishing values in regard to safe, sustainable,
and responsible cultivation of cannabis. The program will be overseen by THC Design's
Founder and Lead Consultant, Ryan Jennemann. Ryan, along with our master growers, engineers and scientists,
will teach our Veteran interns the ins and outs of creating a consistent and reliable product. The
Veteran interns will be engaged in curriculum involving advanced cultivation practices and
operations, renewable water best practices, and research-based approaches to sustainable cultivation.
Rather than solely participating in charity, we developed our internship program to make
self-sustaining work available to veterans. Cultivation of cannabis is appealing to veterans
who may prefer physically engaging and rewarding work, and our company benefits by
acquiring individuals who have a solid work ethic and the capability to learn quickly.
The Veteran interns will become experts in a newly emerging field; we plan on hiring top interns from
each class and referring those who complete the program to other companies in the industry.
We are optimistic that our Veterans Internship Program will serve as model for some of the
positive effects that the cannabis industry may have on our country, by empowering
those who serve it.
