Premium Cannabis Flower

Over the past two years, THC Design has had a slight identity crisis.

In 2021, we made the shift to more sustainable packaging in an attempt to be a “better” company, a huge gamble for us which did not have the desired effect. We could not afford loss of revenue while incurring higher fees at the same time.

We were faced with a decision – switch to mylar bags or our original “OG” packaging. We have never thought that mylar bags are the right vessel for premium cannabis. Would you want your fine wine or whisky in a bag?

Therefore, all of our signature cultivars will now reside in the glass OG jars with THC Design’s signature purple lid, only now in a box. Why a box? Light highly degrades cannabis.

Limited Edition Cultivar Packaging

All of our limited drops and special cultivars will now reside in the Sustainable Jar which is made from silica (glass), one of the most abundant materials on earth with an environmentally-friendly bamboo lid and recycled cardboard box.

FAQ

The term “cannabis flower” refers to the dried flower buds that have been taken from a female cannabis plant. The flower is the most commonly used part of the cannabis plant for not only rolling joints but also for making various other cannabis products, such as oils and tinctures. Some people are confused by the use of the term ‘flower’ and wonder, “Is cannabis a flower?” Well, from a technical standpoint, the cannabis sativa plant is indeed classed as a flowering herb.

If you head to your local cannabis dispensary or talk to a cannabis cultivator about flower or bud, they’ll most likely talk to you about the different types of flower, as it can be categorized into three main varieties: Sativa, Indica, and Hybrid.

  • Sativa – Sativa strains of the cannabis plant tend to have very thin, finger-like leaves and grow really tall.
  • Indica – Indica plants tend to be much shorter and bushier, with thicker and fuller leaves.
  • Hybrid – Hybrid strains are a mixture of both Indica and Sativa, offering a unique blend of effects and properties.

Cannabis flower can be sold in a range of different forms. And, if you head to your local dispensary, you might be surprised by the range of options on offer. Possible forms can include:

  • Premium – Premium flower is the very best quality option, harvested right from the tips of plant stems and boasting the highest levels of trichomes, terpenes, and other essential ingredients.
  • Shake – Shake is made up of loose flower material that can vary in quality and consistency.
  • Trim – Trim is the term given to the parts of the plant that are trimmed away from the main buds themselves. It’s usually used to make products like cannabutter.
  • Popcorn – Popcorn is another type of cannabis flower that is named due to the popcorn-like shape of each piece. It’s a little lower in quality compared to the premium buds but can be a more affordable alternative.

There are lots of different ways to consume cannabis flower. The most common method is inhalation through smoking; typically, a cannabis user will make use of a grinder to grind a nugget of flower into smaller pieces and then roll those pieces in rolling paper to make a joint. The pieces can also be smoked with the aid of a glass pipe, or you could vape cannabis flower with the aid of a vaping device. Cannabis flower can also be used as an ingredient to make other cannabis products, like edibles and drinks.

The potency or effectiveness of any kind of cannabis flower will vary from strain to strain, and it mostly depends on the levels of key cannabinoids, like THC and CBD, in the strain you consume. In general, high THC flowers are much more potent than those with low THC, so it’s recommended to take a look at the THC percentage or concentration when trying to work out how strong a strain really is. Here’s a quick breakdown to help you understand different potency and THC levels in cannabis flower:

  • 10-20% THC – In this range, the effects are more prominent and noticeable. Using this kind of strain should result in a clear high sensation.
  • >20% – Anything with over 20% THC should produce very strong psychoactive effects in the user.

It’s also worth noting that Sativa strains usually have higher THC levels than Indica strains and therefore tend to be more potent.

Yes, from a technical standpoint, all cannabis strains contain at least a small amount of CBD. This applies to both Indica and Sativa varieties, and it’s due to the fact that the cannabis plant, by its very nature, always contains at least a little bit of CBD. The amount of CBD can vary largely from one strain to the next, and it’s worth noting that some strains have quite high CBD concentrations and can produce very noticeable CBD-related effects. Meanwhile, some other strains might have such low amounts of CBD that it’s barely detectable at all.

The terms “cannabis flower” and “bud” are often used interchangeably to refer to the dried and cured reproductive parts of the cannabis plant that are used for consumption. However, some people use these terms in slightly different ways. In general, the term “bud” refers specifically to the part of the cannabis flower that contains the highest concentration of cannabinoids, including tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). These are the chemical compounds that produce the plant’s psychoactive and therapeutic effects. The buds are typically the most potent and flavorful part of the plant and are highly sought after by cannabis connoisseurs. On the other hand, the term “flower” may refer more broadly to the entire reproductive structure of the cannabis plant, including the buds, leaves, and stems. This term is often used in the context of cannabis cultivation and refers to the entire flowering plant that is harvested for use.

The world of cannabis has a lot of slang and unique terms that cannabis users and consumers like to use. Nugs is one of those terms, and it’s short for ‘nuggets’. The term nugs refers to little chunks or pieces of cannabis flower that people grind down with the aid of a grinder before rolling joints or preparing other cannabis products. The term originated simply due to the fact that a little piece of cannabis looks like a kind of nugget with its uneven shape and rough form.
